So it seems that most guilds make heavy use of frost resist (FR), which becomes especially important in heroic mode.

I read the Sindragosa encounter thread on TankSpot along with the Resistance Mechanics thread from Elitist Jerks and here is what I learned.

* Tanks using 3-4 pieces of FR (Ony ring being the fourth piece)(500+ FR) will take very low damage even in P3 and can resist much of the damage upwards of 18 stacks.

* Rest of the raid use 2 pieces of FR (300-340 FR) - this significantly reduces the damage of chilled to the bone which means that mystic buffet stacks are much less dangerous. This gives everyone more time on task before having to clear stacks.

Using FR reduces overall DPS, but is a net gain when you consider that the healers are less stressed keeping the tanks alive and DPS that requires ramp-up will have more time on target before having to mitigate stacking debuffs.

I think this will help us immensely and on top of everything else it will reduce the inevitable panic that sets in as phase 3 progresses.

If we can kill Sindragosa without FR, which we can do on occasion, I think we can kill her more consistently utilizing FR.

Quote

Easy way to explain it:

You want your tank to be as active as humanly possible. Drag putricide everywhere. The longer the Abomination is hitting Putricide and keeping the debuff up, the faster your fight is going to be.

Ideally, the abomination should be hitting Putricide SO much that it pulls off your tank and your tank has to taunt. That's how much damage the abomination does PERSONALLY, and that's not even counting the massive benefit to your raid.

In 10man, keep putricide far away but when green/red slimes spawn, drag putricide (And thus, melee and abomination) with the tank, who should also be hitting the slime. Every last bit of dps counts.

In 25man, just have all melee/tanks/healers sit on the slime. It either picks one of them and explodes once (which won't kill anyone) or goes to a ranged, in which case it dies before it reaches one, every time.

Don't kite the red slime in a huge, convoluted path. My guildies did that until we pointed out what a giant waste of dps time that is. Just kite it in a small path and don't let it touch you, there's no need to run laps around the room.

Just remember, your tank has to be super active. His damage and threat on Putricide is meaningless, but where he positions Putricide (Ie: Next to the abom as much as humanly possible) is.

Quote

Like the krasgoth's 25 man strat, my 10 man group tanks Putricide right next to where the green slime spawns. When the green slime spawns, all dps switch to him and have melee positioned so that if one of them is selected by the green slime then all the melee will be knocked back toward the casters so that they can reengage the slime after it picks a new target. This allows there to be a good burn on the green slime before it even picks a target as melee don't really have to run around to get to it, so it will most likely never reach its target unless it picks a melee character.

For the orange slime, range switch instantly to dps it when it spawns. Melee stay on boss until the orange slime picks a target and then go after it. The kiter should run along the opposite wall from the orange slime and try to make it so the melee will end up near Putricide when the orange slime dies. This positioning and dps method allows you to have maximum uptime on the boss, melee should be keeping up with ranged on the dps (in my groups case we beat range pretty much all the time). In Phase 3 tell your melee to stand on the tank(s) when putricide is about to throw out the choking gas flasks as they will never spawn underneath the tank, meaning your melee will never get the choking gas debuff which makes them do next to no damage for 15 seconds as they are constantly missing. Hell, even standing in front of Putricide for all of Phase 3 and getting dodged and parried is better than getting hit by the damned choking gas, though it is pretty easy to just jump in front of him as he is about to throw them down.

For Festergut I was reading an article today that made me wonder. They were saying that the least amount of movement possible is needed to keep dps high. The more time we spend running around, the less time we are dpsing and not hitting the marker. I know I can Dispersion though a blight and so could get away with 2 of the 3 cycles (because of cd time) not getting innoculated or maybe having just one stack of it. The article made mention that a mage can Iceblock through it as well.

I was wondering what other classes' cd's do people have that might make them live through this without having to worry about Innoculation at least quite so much? Would this be a good idea for those of us that have something like that in order to get more dps in? Also wondering if a pally might be able to bubble off the 9 stacks of blight in an emergency?

I'am a little slow as apparently many of us are already using the wild magic and speed pots in our togc attempts. I would just like to put out there that one of my alts is now pot spec. I'll bring some extra pots to the raid, and will make a couple for you specifically if there is any interest. I'll even make a full stack including procs if you supply your own mats. I believe cyn and den have pot alts too, though i guess any alchy can make them - i think its a northrend discovery research proc.

Timing the pots, hero on worms is a good time, but remember if your using the speed pots, your gcd has a cap it reaches w/ heroism, hence it may be a better idea to save it for when your trinkets (equip or clicky) are ready. Obviously you want to use them on a good attempt, or you'll be thru a whole stack in no time. I have been able to keep up in damage in previous beast attempts w/o these pots.

Nice side benefit is I found a bunch of healer blogs I'd never seen.

I also thought it might be fun to have our own Circle. Here are the questions. All healers are welcome to reply!

What is the name, class, and spec of your primary healer?

What is your primary group healing environment? (i.e. raids, pvp, 5 mans)

What is your favorite healing spell for your class and why?

What healing spell do you use least for your class and why?

What do you feel is the biggest strength of your healing class and why?

What do you feel is the biggest weakness of your healing class and why?

In a 25 man raiding environment, what do you feel, in general, is the best healing assignment for you?

What healing class do you enjoy healing with most and why?

What healing class do you enjoy healing with least and why?

What is your worst habit as a healer?

What is your biggest pet peeve in a group environment while healing?

Do you feel that your class/spec is well balanced with other healers for PvE healing?

What tools do you use to evaluate your own performance as a healer?

What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about your healing class?

What do you feel is the most difficult thing for new healers of your class to learn?

If someone were to try to evaluate your performance as a healer via recount, what sort of patterns would they see (i.e. lots of overhealing, low healing output, etc)?

What healing class do you feel you understand least?

What add-ons or macros do you use, if any, to aid you in healing?

Do you strive primarily for balance between your healing stats, or do you stack some much higher than others, and why?

Hello guildies, no i'm not an FuV spy. I've chatted with a friend of mine in FuV and was asking him about sharing his guild's WoL parses out of curiosity and found some interesting things. Having looked at it, it has definatly renewed my interest to push harder in our ToC/ToGC guild runs, i hope you have a similar revelation. The Koralon numbers are sick, bring your doggy bags. After having looked at the link, try comparing yourself with another player of your class. If they're that much better gear level, then fine. Guardian Spirited is a little addon of which the most important use is to announce:
* When you cast Guardian Spirit (and on who),
* When it procs, thus saving your targets life,
* When it fades without proccing.

just a few thing i saw from last night that might help those who have yet do to his boss. luckily this boss is easier not twin valk easy but not faction champs hard.

the person bringing down the snow make sure you double check that you dont get too far out in the boonies snow out there wont get used.

during the underground phase try to group up somewhat it will make the tanks job of picking up the add easier and will keep the 1k/2sec stacking debuff off random dps make the healers job easier.im not sure what all will take off the debuff. Alathor said his own bubble did but hop did not. stoneform didnt either.

also durning phase 2 the snow likes to randomly vanish under your feat as anubs spikes get close. try to stand on 2 permafrost if you can. last night i was at 5 at some points :D(good snow killer)

as anub resurfaces make sure to kill off all remaining add asap this will not only give the tank a few seconds to get some nice aggro(idk if he aggro dumps) but also will prevent the stacking debuff off the tank. Healers dont like an extra 17k/2sec(i think Alathor got that high)debuff for a min its no fun.

once he starts his leech storm(30 percent) use whatever means to help out the healers.everyone takes 10percent hp reduction every few seconds and can get a nasty little 3kish dot on them also. its hard to keep the tank up on this part let alone the entire raid so use what you can to help out.
also there are no more adds at this point so that is a bonus.

anub DOES have an enrage timer....and he hits a bit hard at that point sooo get him down befor the 8 min that i think it is. i believe someone said they got hit for 100k sooo im no expert but i think thats a 1 shot on anyone.

bring with someone who can use 1h dps maces....although i like that my highest item level piece doesnt actually help me its fun to run around with:D

o and one last thing....in heroic mode on the beasts....fire hurts....alot :D

Good luck have fun im sure ill be invading your raid bringing down you meters soon:D

Text provided by tankspot:

Faction Champions

In this fight you face 10 NPCs of the opposing faction with approximately 2 million hitpoints each. The setup presumably changes from raid ID to raid ID, but it seems consistent in that there are always three healers. There are 14 different NPCs in total that you may end up fighting in any constellation - a DPS version of each class and a healer version of each class that has a healing talent tree.

The general idea of this fight is very reminiscent of a larger scale arena fight, or the third boss in Magister's Terrace. The NPCs work together like an PVP team and should be handled in a similar fashion.

While you're facing up to 12 mobs altogether including pets, they cannot be AoE'd down as they gain a buff that reduces damage done by AoE abilities by 75%.

No normal threat mechanics are in effect. Melee NPCs seem to pick a target at random for a certain amount of time and then move on to to the next one while the caster NPCs just pick random targets to dot up or damage, but abilities such as taunt and fade will make them drop their target temporarily.

It's hard to present an incredibly detailed strategy for this fight but I will give tips of all the things I've noticed that should prove useful:

-You should be aware that the NPCs will use most if not all of their class respective spells, especially crowd control ones. Examples are Blind, Entangling Roots, Cyclone, Wyvern Sting, Sheep and Fears (including AoE fears).

- The paladins will use Hand of Sacrifice and Divine Shield. Have a priest keep mass dispel ready.

- The moonkin will use Treants on cooldown.

- The Warrior will use Bladestorm. If at all possible, stay away from him as best as you can, especially as a cloth wearer. He also breaks fears and uses Intimidating Shout.

- The rogue will randomly focus on a target and burst it down while keeping wounding poison on. Its target will need extra healing.

- The death knight uses chains of ice, Army of the Dead and Death Grip.

- Killing the shaman's totems is incredibly helpful.

- The warlock favors casting Unstable Affliction which should be interrupted whenever possible. He also casts Curse of Agony and Corruption and Fear. Lots of fear.

- The shadow Priest favors casting Vampiric Touch, Shadow Word: Pain and even uses Dispersion when targetted.

- Any NPC that can dispel will dispel.

You want to mark the healers up before pulling and single target them down first. We put an interrupter on every healer and their only task was to make sure no heal gets off. To back this up and catch some other random interrupts, we had our rogue spam Fan of Knives with Throwing Specialization.

Alternatively, you can choose to lock them out by CCing them, but PVP duration and diminishing returns are in effect. The restoration druid can and should be banished or otherwise controlled, as he'll mainly cast instants and is hard to lock down. Since a couple heals will probably go off no matter how hard you try, you should have someone keep mortal strike or wound poison on the current kill target.

The warrior and death knight should be kited with movement speed reducing effects on them. Chains of Ice, Frost Nova and Entangling Roots are most useful on those two. As mentioned, taunts work temporarily, so should any melee NPC pick a clothie as target, they should be taunted so the clothie gets at least a breather and can start kiting. Be aware that taunt diminishing returns are in full effect though, so tanks need to space them out appropriately.

The warlock and hunter pets have very low health, but don't deal a lot of damage either. Whether you choose to kill them first or leave them up for last is up to you. We chose to ignore them as they weren't much of a nuisance for us.

Dispels and cleanses of all kinds are extremely important. On our kill attempt, we had a good 300 cleanses combined. Aim to keep druid and priest HoTs dispelled as well as NPC cooldowns such as Hand of Protection, Barkskin, etc.

Tanks are of very little use in this encounter, although the various interrupts Protection Warriors have make them an ideal choice for locking down a healer.

While it is possible to use resilience gear for this encounter, it seems that burst DPS is much more important. With 10 targets alive, it's close to impossible to keep a 100% lock on every mob, so you want to aim to kill them faster than they heal. We did not have anyone use resilience gear.

I'm starting this thread to set down some of our healing strategies for Ulduar bosses. Please feel free to jump in with suggestions. I'll update this post as our strats change.

Flame Leviathan - vehicle fight, no strat needed. Catapulted healers heal your dps partner. On 10 man, I went into dps spec and was able to heal myself and my partner just fine, plus be more helpful in getting the turrets down.

Razorscale:

3 Groups- 2 add groups and 1 MT group
Right add group - 3 healers: 1 tank healer, 2 raid
Left add group - 2 healers: 1 tank healer , 1 raid
MT group - 1 tank healer
(If we find we really need 7 healers we can adjust this, but I'd like to try it with 6 so as to have the additional DPS. I think we'll be close enough that we can cover both groups.)

During phase 1 (ground adds)
Tank and raid heal at max range to avoid lightning damage. Run from fireballs and flame buffets(the blue flame things).
During phase 2: Razor down
Tank healers stay with your tank as long as there are adds up. 1-2 raid healers will switch over to MT heals as necessary during the transition.
Phase 3:
3 tank healers work as a team
3 raid healers heal raid damage.

Found this on the Plus Heal Forums

. Devouring Flame can be predicted and controlled. Razor shoots Devouring Flames at the player closest to it. So all the MT has to do is stay under the boss as much as possible and soak up incoming flames. The Disc Priest in that group just heals him. At the same time, middle team needs to pick up Dark Rune Sentinels that show up in the middle.

IGNUS:

6 healers: 3 teams of 2

Team 1 - MT (primary tank healer, raid/pot healer)
Team 2- Add tank 1 (primary tank healer, raid healer)
Team 3 - Add tank 2 (primary tank healer, raid healer)

Each raid healer should be prepared to pick up the tank if their tank healer partner is put into the slag pot, dies, or is otherwise unavailable.

NOTE: You can heal yourself while in the pot. DPS who can heal are strongly encouraged to throw themselves a heal or two to help the healers.

The distances can be deceiving on this fight. Raid healers need to be able to get to the tanks if the tank healer is down or potted, so positioning will be important.

This is an endurance fight so watch mana. (We got him near 50% on 10 man)

An interesting new addition to Vault.

2 Tanks, 2 healers, 6 dps worked pretty well for us. We dropped him on the 2nd attempt, and the DPS was pretty good. Don't expect to kill this guy with one of the uncoordinated pugs that kill Archavon with ease.

Emalon and 4 adds start the fight. Every 45 seconds he'll charge one of the elementals. All dps needs to switch to the charged add and kill it before it explodes. If it explodes it's a wipe. We discovered very quickly that moving a little early to the elementals to be ready for the charge. Look for the full health one as he'll heal to 100% the add he charges. The charged add hits harder as he gets closer to exploding also, something to be aware of.

The boss will periodically nova so the melee can just run out and then go back to dpsing after the nova. It doesn't have a huge range either. He does a chain lightning so the ranged needs to space out a bit.

Once you've killed the charged add, a new elemental will spawn, or if you kill any of the elementals a new one will spawn and the OT will have to pick it up.

So good coordination, good dps and it's a pretty good way to pick up a piece of T8 for someone and a nice piece of PvP gear.

I know I've only been able to heal a 10man Maly so far, but for overall holy priest mana regen, although the OO5SR regen has been absolutely gutted, the in casting regen remains the same -if- I can keep decent amount of holy conc up. If Holy Conc can be up near 100%, the in casting may have actually improved (it's like proccing a regen trinket all the time). We can no longer easily get out of combat if at all with the new Holy Conc. so OO5SR regen this may not matter as much. Replenishment however, is an absolute must since I would not be able to keep the regen up on my own if I still need to fight the GCD for every spell for the new raid as well. Shadowfriend seems to have been slightly buffed since he seems to attack a little faster now, but of course the TRUE test will be trying him on a boss like Sapphiron with tail lash, breath attack as well as persistent aura dmg . Spellwise, our spells gotten faster, and more expensive with the new Serendipity (extra haste) and if we start using our prayer of healing as well. Overall I am not as thrilled (expensive spells + less regen), but since now I can switch between disc as well, the real boon for me has been dual-spec! I actually survived in a BG other day.

Just wanted to add that I would probably still focus on +int > crit > spirit in terms of regen stats. With surge procs, serendipity buffs can be up pretty consistently with 2 or 3 stacks, so I would probably not focus as much on haste, unless I find that i need even faster heals in Ulduar.

Just wanted to see how the other healers feel about this new patch?
