For anyone's alts interested in learning the new 3.3 demo spec (much more active/fun then destro) i found a video similar to the destro one on utube that is quite informative. Ofc i could've explained it, but Optec does a better job. Orcs, when you come back, we'll talk more about figuring out which one of us should demo it up

I wanted to see how i compared to the rest of the warlock community (realm wise) on wowheroes and i stumbled across this:

It is interesting; I know pretty much all there is to destro and i found somethings i always wondered about. Such as different raid spec's involving lifetap glyph instead of immo or incinerate (spec'd slightly different), its the first spec Faulkun talks about. Second is just dropping corruption entirely, it makes up so little dmg that unless your moving (ideal time to tap or slap corruption) its a waste of a gcd. Then the obvious; keep your imp out of phase shift when raid buffing. Orcsbane, let me know when you've seen the vid and tell me what you think.

Raid Specs and Rotations! (8 replies)

Hey guys, too any of you kaemoss or lock fans out there i wanted to share my knowledge on everything i know about locks in a raid setting and what we can do is. I dont want to make this an uber long post so i'll start with my current destro build (same one as Zalms) and work on one talent spec discussion/rotation explanation at a time.

Destruction (0/13/58) [www.wowarmory.com]

I may be biased towards this spec as it is the spec i was originally joining Fate, but there are not too many cons about it besides maybe pulling aggro too early. The rotation is immo - conflag - chaos bolt - incin - incin - incin rinse repeat. You want to keep chaos bolt on cool down but conflag is always top priority. Personally i dislike burning a backdraft charge on immolate, so i tend to just keep incinerating (chaos bolt w/e its up of course) until immo is off, re apply immo then conflag - that way we're making the most out of our back draft charges. I have argued with Legeld from Sundering about burning a backdraft charge on immo and he says it doesn't matter; to use conflag w/e its up but i'll let you guys decide. One more thing, as i play the spec more and more and i establish a rhythm later in the raid i time my immolate so it doesn't clip the current immo but so it eliminates any down time the mob or boss does not have immo on it. On a target dummy (lvl80 or heroic) you want to be hitting 4k dps + i know its spiky with all the crits but its only going to be higher in a raid setting with full buffs/flask/food.

Lifetap as you know is becoming more and more dated as we all gear up in t8 since some of us (I swap t7 4pc and t8 2pc a lot when playing affliction, thyrandia has replaced all his t7 i believe) are going for the bigger stat gains, which is fine. It makes sense, and i'm indirectly quoting from a post from warlock den that by the end of a boss fight, we want to pretty much be out of mana with our last 1 - 3 nukes left. I'm still working out the kinks but ideally we want to spread our lifetaps out so we dont tap too much... with >50% mana left. Also with t8 out it is not logical to use lifetap glyph for all specs let alone tap every 20secs for t7 4pc set bonus as affliction. The above rule applies to all specs across the board.

Lastly one of my favorite things about the deep destro spec/improved soul leech is its sustainability - the ammount of mana we gain from our talents, minimum life taps, and raid buffs returns a lot of mana to us making us pretty efficient with mana usage and self sustainability. Give it a try, it will not dissapoint.

Glyphs: Major
1)incinerate
2)immolate
3)conflag

This is a must have for any lock who likes ot use his succubus's CC. This macro lets you put the spell on a target, and reaply the spell without having to retarget the monster it is on. Effectivly you can cc the target at the beggining of a pull, switch to another target, layer yous dots, pop a shadowbolt or two (youll have to learn how much time you can get away with since you cant see the timer unless you target the mob again) and then hit the macro to reapply seduction, then go on with killing your target. This macro adds huge funtionality to seduce since you dont have to find the old target again and click on it. It also allows you to reapply seduction at any time, without the macro you need to manually tell your succubus to stop channeling seduction, and then recast it, this macro does all of that with one simple button push. After having this macro, seduction feels like a MUCH more useful spell.

Hey DOT's not for you? This is about as close to becoming a mage without getting that messy surgery in Thailand. Besides being a mana-whore, I kill things so quickly I'm able to 'drain-tank' enemies with confidence enough that sometimes my life/mana pool stay at about 1/10 full. Along with shadowfury and deathcoil my shortterm CC is spectacular. If your interested in this spec lemme know, ill talk your ear off over it (or maybe thats just the leprosy I got in gnomeragan).

Affliction lock soloing with dark pact (no replies)

For you affliction locks out there with dark pact. If you want to grind fast and have a lot of mana to do so, summon a succubus (she does the most DPS without spells) and turn her spells off. With her spells off she will constantly regenerate mana, even during battle. Pop a few dark pacts after every fight and youll be good to go. If you have to you can still manually tell her to seduce something too, so while she's out you have a good CC (crowd control) spell. You can also use spirit scrolls/buffs on her to make her an even better mana battery. Youll pull lots of aggro this way so make sure you have improved drain life. Hit your drain life after you've stacked your DoT's, and if you've specced correctly it will also do a very high amount of damage. Occasionally you will run out of mana, especially during instance runs, so hit your lifetap repeatedly and then use a bandage. You don't get as much use from your pet this way, but for me the extra mana is well worth it.
